Scott Whelan Therapy
Compassionate & Collaborative Psychotherapy, empowering you to live a fulfilling and authentic life
Scott Whelan, AMFT
It is in our nature to live our lives through stories. Often our stories can become overshadowed by the effects of problems in our lives. Trauma, anxiety and difficult life transitions can take you away from what you value most, leaving you feeling overwhelmed, disconnected or stuck. My goal and passion is to honor all parts of your story, providing a compassionate space for you to heal and re-claim your own agency in life.
The very fact that you are here seeking therapy speaks to your inherent resourcefulness and movement towards hope and change. Through our work together we will balance acceptance and change, connecting the dots between present and past, empowering you to live a fulfilling and authentic life full of possibility.

BUILD A LIFE WORTH LIVING
Approach
From my perspective, therapy is not about staying stuck in the past. It is about living more fully in the present, rooted and connected to your values and hopes for the future.
So often, the symptoms that are causing us problems or keeping us stuck actually started out as our best attempts to survive and cope. So rather than to judge or “fix” what is “wrong” with you, together we will build compassion and understanding for the ways you have had to adapt. This will make space for you to let go of old patterns that no longer serve you, and to connect with your Self, your relationships and what matters most in your life from a place of authenticity and empowerment.
I partner with each person who consults with me as unique individual. I will collaborate with you and draw from many forms of therapy to best address your goals.
